CUPPING THERAPY

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. It is used for various purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well-being, as well as a type of deep-tissue massage. Here are key points about cupping therapy:

Core Principles

Creation of Suction: The suction in the cups can be created by heating the air inside the cup or using a mechanical pump. This suction draws the skin and superficial muscle layer into the cup.

Types of Cupping: Dry Cupping: Only the suction is applied.
Wet Cupping: Suction is followed by controlled medicinal bleeding. After applying the suction, small cuts are made on the skin, and then another round of suction is used to draw out a small quantity of blood.

Mechanism of Action: The suction created by cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may help relieve muscle tension, improve overall blood flow, and promote cell repair.
